Right now, Colorado Springs spends $0 of its own money on affordable housing
In 2019, we received a little under $15 million from the Federal Government through Community Development Block Grants, Emergency Solutions Grants, and the HOME Investment Partnership Program. You can read more about that money and how we spent it here.
To solve our affordable housing crisis, however, our city government needs to invest in our communities. This year, the Chinook Center is putting together a People’s Budget to better reflect the kinds of investment we need to lift people up and build a more just city.
Be prepared to advocate for more spending on affordable housing during the summer and fall of 2021.
